DAGOBERT BORCHERT

Dagobert Borchert (b. 1990) is a Hamburg born and Berlin-based artist. The focus of his work lies in abstract painting and writing poetry.

Having spent significant time in Nairobi, Kenya and Tokyo, Japan he has frequently collaborated with other artists on multiple occasions in addition to his own works.

The dissection of far-reaching structures in search of the form underneath the surface. Attempting to carefully peal individual layers from another in order to reveal a different perspective on a specific thread of the coat covering the roots.

Drawn from the wound healing process of the skin as well as the metaphorical scarring of the surfaces in urban living-spaces, the work tries to invite the viewer to dive beyond the visually perceived layer, reimagining the construction leading from the top layer to the foundation.

The chosen materials are carefully selected according to their transformational abilities, allowing each displayed layer to take on its own journey influenced by the exterior conditions of its current environment.

Hereby, allowing the detached sheet of skin or landscape to eventually build and transform into its own living structure.
